Rheem Deco
Display typeface developed in collaboration with design agency Denmark [the Agency] and The Rheem Manufacturing Co.
As we were wrapping up the Rheem Sans typeface project with our friends at AKOFAType, we were asked again by the fine folks at Denmark [the agency] to help with another aspect of the project that would replicate the current "red dot" Rheem logo.

Sounds simple enough to pull together in a few hours but, as we learned, this undertaking would not be a simple creation of the glyphs "R","h","e","e","m" to fit perfectly into a predetermined circle. It involved historical research into the founding years of Rheem which took place during the American art deco period of the early 20th century. That primary research combined with the company's early marketing ephemera helped us determine the right creative direction to design the typeface.

What emerged from the research, sketches, trials and experimentation was Rheem Deco, a fully functional art deco inspired OpenType typeface that was more than just a simple logo inspired font.

Although Rheem Deco was created to mimic the Rheem "Red Dot" logo, it can be utilized in other delightful ways.
